The Get GRIT Program is a tier one, evidence-informed, social and emotional learning (SEL) program specifically designed to support schools in their efforts to foster positive mental health and well-being in their students.
The digital program is designed to develop children's social, emotional, and communication skills, thereby enhancing their relationships, academic performance, and overall mental health and well-being. By fostering these essential skills, the program seeks to equip students with the tools they need for lifelong success and resilience.

The word grit is often used to describe resilience, perseverance and determination. The Get GRIT Program aims to develop grit and more. GRIT is an acronym for:
Getting Along,
Resilient Thinking,
Identifying Emotions, and
Taking Charge.
These four key elements will teach students how to master the skills needed to thrive and reach their full potential in learning and life.
Getting Along
Students will learn how to:
- Establish and develop positive connections.
- Maintain healthy and supportive relationships.
- Recognise and appreciate different perspectives (empathy development).
- Effectively navigate social settings.
- Communicate effectively and listen actively.
- Identify positive ways to work out disagreements.
- Be an upstander against bullying behaviour.
Resilient Thinking
Students will learn how to:
- Identify and understand their thoughts and thought patterns.
- Recognise unhelpful 'stop' thoughts and helpful ‘go’ thoughts.
- Identify thinking traps.
- Catch, check, challenge and change unhelpful ‘stop’ thoughts.
- Be a resilient and optimistic thinker.
- Persevere to overcome frustrations and bounce back from adversities.
Identifying Emotions
Students will learn how to:
- Identify and name their feelings.
- Describe the role emotions play in providing them with information about themselves and others.
- Make connections between the brain’s functioning and their own emotional experiences.
- Regulate and manage their emotional responses.
- Implement behavioural and cognitive positive coping skills.
- Articulate and communicate what they need.
Taking Charge
Students will learn how to;
- Develop a growth mindset.
- Persist with tasks when faced with challenges.
- Develop grit.
- Embrace mistakes as chances to learn and grow.
- Be adaptable and take risks.
- Develop self-discipline and self-motivation.
- Develop time-management skills.
- Set personal goals.
What is Get GRIT's Classroom Curriculum?
- The Get GRIT Program is a tier one, evidence-informed, social and emotional learning (SEL) program specifically designed to support schools in their efforts to foster positive mental health and well-being in their students.
- The digital format provides easy-to-implement lesson plans, allowing for consistent delivery across grade levels at a whole school level.
- The program consists of four units (Getting Along, Resilient Thinking, Identifying Emotions and Taking Charge) with 8 lessons in each unit; a total of 32 lessons for each grade from Foundation to Grade Six.
- Each lesson offers an engaging video lesson that supports student learning by combining visual, auditory, and interactive elements.
- Each comprehensive lesson plan, with teacher script and anticipated student or teacher responses, includes a range of activities to actively engage learners, guide student conversation and provide opportunities for students to master and apply their new skills.
- Teachers are provided with essential tasks to teach, along with additional tasks for reinforcement and enrichment.
- Each lesson offers a task to complete in the Get GRIT student journal to enhance students' understanding, engagement, and retention of key concepts and skills taught in each lesson.
- Printables of the student journals are available to download and print at school, or you have the option to order, at an additional cost, professionally bound journals directly from us for added convenience. Learn more here.
- Educators are provided with online, self-paced teacher training to equip them with the knowledge to effectively implement the program in their classrooms.

Get GRIT Student Journals
Professionally bound journals are available for an additional cost, offering a practical solution to save on school printing costs while providing added convenience. Both students and the school will benefit from a more organised and professional method of showcasing students' learning, enabling students to reflect on their progress and revisit their learning throughout the year. Each journal is priced at $11.95 (plus GST).

Parent Engagement App
Our parent engagement app is designed to strengthen the connection between home and school. By listening to the short 2-minute podcast each week, parents can reinforce their child's learning and create a common language that bridges home and school environments. This shared activity not only enhances understanding and reinforces learning but also encourages meaningful discussions between parents and children. It provides an opportunity for parents to ask questions, offer additional explanations, and actively support their child's educational journey. Moreover, this engagement through the podcast is a wonderful way for parents to stay informed about what their child is learning and to contribute positively to their mental health and well-being. The Get GRIT Program App is offered at no cost to all participants in the school program and can be downloaded from the App Store and Google Play Store.
Evidence-Informed
Based on the Collaborative for Academic, Social and Emotional Learning (CASEL) framework, the program integrates the science of well-being and resilience with best practices in teaching and learning. The Get GRIT Program is based on teaching strategies and evidence-based techniques drawn from Cognitive-Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Neuroscience, Positive Psychology, Social and Emotional Learning, and Growth Mindset Theory.
Curriculum-Aligned
The learning content is mapped to the Australian Curriculum’s personal and social capabilities and Health curriculum and supports the learning of essential skills that are proven to positively impact academic outcomes and foster positive mental health and well-being.

Classroom Ready
Easy online access to classroom ready lesson plans to simplify preparation, teaching, and progress tracking. Through pre-planned lesson plans, children learn, practise and integrate social and emotional skills in their daily life.
The Get GRIT Program, a universal classroom-based program, takes a whole-school approach to teach a consistent message to students across all grades. The integration of the Get GRIT Program into the curriculum is seamless, making it easy to implement.
Teacher Training
Educators are provided with online, self-paced teacher training to equip them with the knowledge to effectively implement the program in their classrooms. Teachers are introduced to the program's distinctive approach to promoting positive mental health and well-being among students and how it integrates these key skills and concepts across grades.
The teacher training is designed to up-skill teachers in social and emotional learning and support them to implement the program effectively.
